Story 7: A Companion for Parties
When I changed jobs, I had more opportunities to be invited to gatherings.
If I call them parties, they sound glamorous and fun,
But the main objective is interacting with people connected with work.
I introduce myself and exchange business cards as I come and go from the venues.
People from the company can see me, so I can’t relax and let loose.
Despite this, there’s still a special feeling involved in going to
A restaurant or hotel that I would never normally visit.
There’s no need to be in proper formal clothing,
Though I do dress according to the TPO
—It’s fun to put on a more fashionable outfit, very different from what I normally wear.
On these occasions, I go out with my NOTE-A-NOTE.
I slip my credit card, a minimum amount of cash,
And sets of business cards into the expanding pocket,
And add a small ballpoint pen
So that I can quickly take notes
If I find myself talking about important business.
This is my party bag.
When I’m holding my NOTE-A-NOTE,
I somehow feel prettier than usual,
And think that I’m capable as a person.
