IM MEN started in 2021 as a menswear brand to pursue new possibilities of design and making, while still thinking about Issey Miyake’s concept “a piece of cloth.” The “IM” portion of the brand name comes from “im product”, which was an ISSEY MIYAKE product brand available from the late 70’s to the 90’s. Today, IM MEN is based on the philosophy of “im product” that “practical products meet the people who use them”, to create functional products born from human creativity and sensitivities, such as wisdom and ingenuity, curiosity and humor, wonder and discovery. IM MEN carries on that spirit to create a new universality and beauty. IM MEN creates products as a team, leveraging the expertise of each member who researches into the structure and materials of clothing, and using ideas and techniques from unique perspectives. The brand aims to create products that integrate technology, design, and creation by sharing experimental processes.
