Story 4: This Summer, For Sure
I did my back in for the first time while I was away on vacation last summer.
I was in a place with fantastic scenery, surrounded by nature, and I spent my time almost entirely bedridden.
I would wobble to my feet, wearing a corset,
And grip my friend’s arm to walk, with a furrowed brow.
It felt like I’d aged about 30 years at once.
I definitely don’t want this summer vacation to be a flop.
“Stretches that can be done while lying down”
“Avoid injury! Make your body more flexible”
“Prevent back pain just by doing this 20 times a day”
I tried imitating the muscle training and stretches.
I impulsively saved from video sites,
But my body didn’t change.
“This isn’t going to work,” I thought, so I joined a personal training.
But on top of the physical exercise, there’s a lot for a beginner to remember:
How to use the machines, the details of training menus,
The names of the muscles you should be using, and more.
I slip my gym membership card into the pocket of my small notebook
And stealthily check the menu that I jotted down during training.
If I always carry this with me,
I’m sure the state of my back will improve.
And, while I’m at it,
Maybe I’ll become a little better-looking, too.
