The MADO gallery at ISSEY MIYAKE / NEW YORK presents a special exhibition celebrating the launch of A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE’s “TYPE-XII Tomokazu Matsuyama project,” from Thursday, July 9 through Monday, August 31.

A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE, which explores various forms of "ABLEs" through encounters with different fields and industries, is launching new items from the "TYPE-XII Tomokazu Matsuyama project" in collaboration with globally acclaimed contemporary artist Tomokazu Matsuyama. This project seamlessly integrates A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE’s innovative design process with Matsuyama’s multifaceted visual expressions into a single piece of cloth, revealing new possibilities at the intersection of art and design.

This project began with the creation of exclusive items for Matsuyama’s first major solo exhibition in Tokyo, “Tomokazu Matsuyama: FIRST LAST,” held at Azabudai Hills Gallery in Spring 2025. Following the strong reception to the project, new coats incorporating Matsuyama’s artwork into a piece of cloth will be released, offering a unique opportunity to wear art as part of everyday life.

At the MADO gallery, the original paintings featured on the coats presented in this project are on special display.

In the adjacent A-POC ABLE space, dynamic installations of A-POC ABLE’s vibrant textiles — which served as the canvas for Matsuyama’s reconstructed artworks — are suspended from the ceiling, immersing visitors in the world of the project.
