ELEMENT SERIES Ⅰ

CONCEPT

ISSEY MIYAKE EYES has launched a new series called the ELEMENT SERIES. All the products in the lineup feature a front part made of acetate. We have created eyewear featuring a design that uses different colors for each element, such as the rim, bridge, and end pieces (the side part of the front). This design draws its inspiration from "Elementarism", a theory and style of art that flourished in the Netherlands in 1924. Wearers can enjoy a sense of see-through clarity made possible by the clear colors used in front parts and unique accents. Built around the classic lens shape, all four models have a slim, even-surfaced and sleek smooth form that adds a minimalist, modern impression. The metal-plate temple, made of pure titanium, is curved as if to gently wrap the face; it is also a component that emphasizes the color switchover in the front part.

TECHNICAL

DETAIL 1 Bicolor fabric
Introduced a special processing technology in which two different colors of acetate fabric are partially laminated in two layers by thermocompression, and then cut. The bi-color design that characterizes this model has been realized with a seamless finish while switching colors vividly. Secure overwhelming strength compared to sticking separate parts for each element. This enables a sophisticated and slim form. By daringly adopting light colored lenses, the contrast with the fabric stands out even more.

DETAIL 2 Plate temple
Combined with the expressive acetate front is a wide plate temple made of pure titanium that has a strong presence. Developed from a mold to fit the temporal region with a gentle radius. Detail created with the unique technology of Kaneko Optical, a domestic Eyewear manufacturer that is particular about wearing comfort.

DETAIL 3 Modern
Acetate of the same color as the front is used for the temples behind the ears. The L-shaped cut at the joint with the temple serves to reduce the gap caused by the shrinkage of acetate. The form inherited from the BONE SERIES is the tip of the modern model. It is a design that considers smooth putting on and taking off so that you can elegantly direct your movements.
