MARROW

CONCEPT

The MARROW series features sunglasses that integrate different materials, celluloid and metal, in pursuit of a design that matches the individuality of the wearer. The structure that is rigid despite its soft look was achieved through the combination of smooth acetate plastic and hard yet supple beta titanium. The lineup offers a variety of models that combine three frame shapes (teardrop, round, and square) with three color patterns (Demi Pattern, Clear, and Black).

TECHNICAL

DETAIL 1 Metal + cellulose joined
The beta-titanium is processed by laser cutting, then pressed into a joint structure with the cell frames, a process that requires the sophisticated skills of a Sabae eyewear artisan. The combination of strong yet flexible beta-titanium and soft, smooth acetate results in not only a design with depth but reduced age-related deformation of the cellulose over time and springiness across the front of the glasses overall.

DETAIL 2 Exquisite front finish
The material we use is made at the Takiron-Rowland factory, Japan’s only acetate sheet manufacturer consistently offering the highest standard of quality over decades. In addition to the dry manufacturing method which uses neither adhesives nor solvents, reduced use of plasticizers produces acetate sheets with a high level of gloss and minimal deformation from ageing. The front piece of the sunglasses, carved and polished time and again by the hand of the artisan, is finished with a soft look in a unique shape. Depending on how the tortoiseshell is cut, a unique and beautiful layered pattern is produced.
