BONE SERIES Ⅷ

CONCEPT

BONE SERIES VIII focuses on the basic shapes of eyeglasses. These are models that easily fit anyone’s face. The rims on these glasses have unique nuances. They may look normal, but the overall rim size and the shape around the bridge add a classic touch. The lenses are clear when indoors, then darken to shades when in the bright outdoors, seamlessly reacting to the UV light.

TECHNICAL

DETAIL 1 Made from 100% biodegradable bioplastic
Bioplastic is a plastic material made from organic (non-petroleum) feedstock. For this range, the material named “M49” is used, a natural, 100% biodegradable feedstock that was developed by Mazzucchelli, a heritage spectacle frame materials manufacturer. When placed in a natural environment, this bioplastic will be broken down by microbes and enzymes to decompose into soil. Based on natural materials such as cotton and wood pulp, this bioplastic is an innovative material in that it also harnesses scientifically developed natural plasticizers, reducing environmental footprint and providing excellent strength and aesthetic value.

DETAIL 2 Corrosion-resistant titanium parts
Titanium metal products hardly ever rust–it is a material that can be used semi-permanently. The reason it does not rust is that when titanium comes into contact with oxygen, it forms a layer of film on the surface that is extremely stable. This is a metal characterized by this oxide layer, which prevents further oxidization beneath. Even if the surface of the titanium is damaged, rust does not form due to the self-repair by the oxide layer. Neither does it rust due to salt, so it is completely sweatproof. Nor is there any allergic reaction of skin to the metal. The ultra-light and flexible springiness of the material makes it the ideal material for metal frames. In the Bone VII series, titanium is used in the temples, endpieces and bridge.

DETAIL 3 Use of photochromic lens
When exposed to strong light, the color becomes darker, and when indoors, it becomes a light color that is almost clear, so there is no need to wear or take off Sunglasses according to the brightness. The plastic lens is kneaded with a material that reacts to ultraviolet rays. It reduces glare in places where sunlight is strong, and the color fades indoors to maintain visibility, making it a very convenient tool for everyday wear. However, photochromic lenses are not permanent and their sensitivity decreases with frequency of use, so it is recommended that you replace them with new lenses usually every 3 to 4 years.
