SPECIAL PROJECTS
Tadanori Yokoo is an artist whose constant embrace of change has made him a pioneer of our time.
TADANORI YOKOO ISSEY MIYAKE reconstructs the ever-flowing energy of Mr. Yokoo’s works in a single piece of cloth to explore the further potential of clothing. This is a special project by A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE that integrates both the joy of appreciating artwork and the fun of wearing clothes.
TADANORI YOKOO ISSEY MIYAKE 4
In the "4" series, we present dresses with 10 motifs from the latest work of Yokoo's "Kanzan Jittoku" series. The two types of dresses, which are reprints of the "rhythm pleats" that were introduced in the ISSEY MIYAKE 1990 spring/summer collection, are produced using A-POC ABLE's unique Steam Stretch technique. Yokoo's flat, square clothes printed with images of a world that transcends time and space transform dynamically into three-dimensional forms when worn.
TADANORI YOKOO ISSEY MIYAKE 3
The “3” series introduced << slip off slip >> series which Mr. Yokoo’s work of woodblock prints where he used Sharaku Toshusai’s portraits of kabuki actors as motifs and created intentionally misaligned prints. The lineup features 10 different patterns. When the work is translated into clothing, the pattern on the blouson is designed with a touch of humor as if each component to be cut and sewn is misaligned too, emphasized by the colors that outline each offset.

The “2” series introduced Mr. Yokoo’s work of woodblock prints where he used Sharaku Toshusai’s portraits of kabuki actors as motifs and created intentionally misaligned prints. When the work is translated into clothing, the pattern on the blouson is designed with a touch of humor as if each component to be cut and sewn is misaligned too, emphasized by the colors that outline each offset.
TADANORI YOKOO ISSEY MIYAKE 1
The “1” series based on one of the ISSEY MIYAKE Paris Fashion Week invitations that Mr. Yokoo has designed since 1970’s. The artwork printed on the invitations, available only to guests invited to the shows, is now translated into items of clothing, bringing inspirations to your daily lives.
TADANORI YOKOO ISSEY MIYAKE 0
We released blousons that are made by reconstructing Mr. Yokoo’s works in a single piece of cloth as a “0” series. We have woven every single facet of the energy of his works vividly on blousons using only seven color threads. When weaving this fabric, the colors of the thread, not used on the outside can be seen on the inside. Through this process, the inside of each blouson becomes the negative of Mr. Yokoo’s works in unexpected colors.
